Description
MARKET RESEARCH/SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) seeks to obtain from sources capable of fully satisfying a need for an improved light vehicle hardening solutions identified herein that may be procured in the near future. The information requested is for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a commitment of any kind. Any information received, in whole or in part, may be used to create the resulting acquisition strategy for a potential requirement. Responders will not be reimbursed for any information received and are encouraged not to provide proprietary data or business sensitive information as any information received may be used by the Government and/or released to the public. However, proprietary information received in response to this market research synopsis will be safeguarded and protected in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Proprietary information submitted as a result of this market research shall be marked in accordance wit! h FAR 52.215-1(e). The Government is seeking suitable commercial items, developmental items, or commercial items that can be easily modified to meet existing Government requirements. Information on capable sources is sought for the following requirements listed below. The system is not limited to, but shall have the following capabilities:.Ability to protect Marines 360 degrees against the fragmentation effects of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Unexploded Ordnance/Sub-munitions (UXOs).At a minimum be able to stop 7.62mm armor-piercing (AP) ammo at 100 yards (yds)..Provide overhead and side protection against fragmentation from airburst, 155mm shells and blast protection..The baseline protection shall provide the crew and passengers with 360 degree coverage to include the bottom of the vehicle..The armor and windows shall stop 7.62mm ball ammunition at zero yards and provide flank protection against fragmentation from IEDs. Window ballistic and blast protection shall be the same as the armor protection for crew and passengers..The total weight of the hardening solution shall be lower than the weight of MAK6 kits currently being used on HMMWVs..The protection shall have minimal effect on existing shape or appearance of the vehicle..Armor shall not interfere with the crew's ability to egress and ingress of the vehicle. Sources capable of satisfying the above requirements should submit capability statements/expressions of interest providing the Government the necessary information to determine actual capability. At a minimum, this information should include: 1) identification of your company or organization, 2) your company's or organization's assertion of existing, full capability to meet proposed requirements, 3) business/contacts/marketing office point(s) of contact information, 4) notification of business size and/or special status and 5) any additional information that may be useful to the successful procurement of the requirements, if solicited. These expressions of interest shall adhere to a two (2) pages submission limit, plus commercial marketing information or web links and all should be submitted via email to Ira D. Patterson at ira.patterson@USMC.mil, referencing the following tracking#9016. The information should be submitted on or before 13 Feb 2009. This market research announcement should not be considered a commitment of any kind by the Government and individual correspondence should not be expected in advance of any resulting pre-solicitation notice for the proposed requirements.
