Description

The Naval Air Systems Command Headquarters Division, Patuxent River, MD intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Modification to Contract N00019-05-C-0044 with Harris Corporation for the procurement and storage of an estimated quantity of 650 Applied Micro Circuit Application (AMCC) Power PC Processors. The items will deliver and ship in place at the Contractor's facility, Melbourne FL. The Combat Electronics Program Office (PMA 209) has a requirement to protect production of the Digital Map Computer (DMC) and Digital Video Map Computer (DVMC) for the Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC). This component of the DMC/DVMC is going obsolete and necessitates the immediate procurement of a life of type buy action for the Power PC Processor. There are no other known parts that meet form, fit, and function replacement requirements. Harris Corporation is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the Digital Map Computer and Digital Video Map Computer and as such, is the only source capable of procuring and storing these parts to protect the production of the DMC & DVMC for TAMMAC. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition regulation (FAR) 6.3.02-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
