- Description
- The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity intends to award a contract on a non-competitive basis for the purchase and delivery of a Nikon microscope model number MEA53200 that has a DS-L2 camera control unit and accessories. Nikon Instruments is the only company with a standalone camera control unit with high resolution LCD screen, which eliminates the necessity for the purchase and co-location of additional computer equipment and accommodates our limited space requirement for a BSL4 lab. The suggested source is Nikon Instruments Inc., 514 Progress Drive, Suite T, Linthicum, MD 21090. This equipment is required because it meets the space requirement and will be compatible with existing equipment already in use. The Nikon microscope with accessories is interchangeable with the Nikon microscopes already in use in other containment suites and would save money on additional filter cubes. The approximate amount of space available to accommodate this microscope is 750mm x 850mm x 650mm (height x width x depth). This microscope has been fitted with several objectives and filter cubes to allow maximum versatility (flasks, cover slips, and slides) and use (multiple fluorescence, phase, and Nemarsky microscopy). The filter cubes (each costs about $5,000) and Nemarsk filters are also interchangeable with the other two Nikon microscopes already in use in our other containment suites and thus would save us money on the purchase of additional specialty filter cubes (which we already own and share between the other two microscopes) for the new microscope. The microscope will be fitted with two cameras, one for low light detection and one for bright-field detection, to allow for the capture of digital images for archival and publication purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. However, if qualified sources feel they can meet the technical requirements of this equipment they shall provide technical literature and pricing. All inquiries and concerns must be emailed to wanda.king@amedd.army.mil. Telephone requests or inquiries will not be accepted. Responses to this electronic notice must be made by 12:00 PM on February 18, 2009. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government.
