Description
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to award the purchase of "Flowsys Software System" to Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA). The purchase will be made under FAR part 12. This notice is per FAR part 5.207. This acquisition will be made under a Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC) as there is only one responsible source. The JOFOC is per FAR part 6.302-1. The Flowsys is a software system that is used to acquire and store printing press production data. This acquisition is to upgrade existing software to the latest version. The most recent version of the software will allow the BEP to run the most recent production control products. The production control products within Western Currency Facility (WCF) and Washington, DC Facility (DCF) include: Flowsys Data Verification Station's (DVS), Realtime Press Monitor (RPM), and the Flowsys Report Server. The production control products are based on older versions of Windows operating system, Oracle databases, and Flowsys application systems. These systems need to be upgraded with the latest version of Flowsys in order to implement the latest production systems. The most recent Flowsys software provides a multitude of new functions including support features to enhanced operational features. The upgraded features will eliminate manual entry, reduce errors, and automate the generation of data. Flowsys is the proprietary data management system offered by KBA as part of their overall product line. The application, which is connected to the currency presses, is used to control personnel log-in, configuration settings, and data collection processes. The synchronization of the currency press machinery and software applications was created by KBA. KBA holds ownership of the patent for the software. All upgrades of the existing systems must be processed through the patent holder, KBA. If your firm can provide this requirement for proprietary software please respond; include your business size in your response.
