Description
The Government is seeking sources for the procurement, delivery and installation of a steel-backed, ballistic rubber wall to be installed in front of the target mechanisms on the MCAS Yuma AZ pistol range to prevent damage from errant rounds. The existing front wall is made of wooden timbers protected by sandbags and is inefficient and unsafe. The MCAS Yuma pistol range has a walkway down the center line so actually there will be a left side and right side wall, each about 60 feet long. The contractor shall install the ballistic rubber walls backed with steel on an existing concrete slab. The height of each wall is about 30 inches across the width of the range. The steel backing shall be at least 3/8 inch thick and be of Brinell hardness of AR 450 or greater. The steel must come within an inch of the top of the ballistic rubber and at no point be exposed above the rubber. A single thickness of rubber block and steel is considered sufficient to defeat pistol rounds of.45 caliber and below. The walls must have bracing appropriate to preclude being knocked over by personnel or range maintenance equipment. All bracing must not be exposed to the shooters to prevent any ricochet hazards. Ballistic rubber blocks are commonly available from several commercial vendors often under the brand name DuraBloc. They are ! normally 9-12 inches thick and are available in a variety of lengths and widths. The contractor shall remove the existing front wall prior to installation of the ballistic rubber wall. Materials generated from this removal will be placed in bins provided by the Government and disposal of those materials will be the responsibility of the government. The award will be approximately $50,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED
