- The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Tacoma, WA intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) Sole Source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The VA intends to award a Fire Suppression Contract to Pierce County Fire District #2; the fire district will in accordance with the contract provide fire suppression services to the American Lake Division of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Based on Pierce County's Fire District #2 ability to respond within the required time of eight minutes, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week including holidays, it is the belief of the Government that they are currently the only responsible source capable of providing fire suppression services needed to satisfy the agency requirement. It is the belief of the Government that there is currently only one responsible source capable of providing the equipment to satisfy the agency requirement. A justification for other than full and open competition is prepared in support of this acquisition. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Applicable NAICS code 922160.
