- Description
- The National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA), Stennis Space Center,MS, is requesting information to identify possible sources to provide appropriate cranelift and transportation services in support of rocket testing programs at John C. StennisSpace Center. Contractors will be required to provide lift services and equipment thathas the capability of handling materials with a weight of 50 tons and greater in supportof construction activities at the A3 construction site at Stennis Space Center (SSC) inHancock County, MS. It is anticipated that this project will be issued as an indefinitedelivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) vehicle. Contractor would be issued a task order foreach lift. Specific tasks currently identified:1. The off load and transport of 9 carbon steel water vessels (tanks) from railcars atPicayune/Nicholson Mississippi to Stennis Space Center (SSC) and vertically installvessels as instructed. Services scheduled to begin March 2009.The vessels dimensions are:Diameter: 11 feet outside diameterLength: 85 feet, including nozzle at top and support skirtWeight: 290,000 pounds each2. The off load and transport of 2 stainless steel alcohol vessels (tanks) fromrailcars at Picayune/Nicholson Mississippi to Stennis Space Center (SSC) and verticallyinstall vessels as instructed.The vessels dimensions are:Diameter: 11 feet outside diameterLength: 77 feet, including nozzle at top and support skirtWeight: 260,000 pounds eachThese services are projected to begin in March 2009 and continue for up to 24 months.This requirement is intended to be 100% set aside to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned SmallBusinesses. Therefore, responses shall be restricted to Service-Disabled Veteran-OwnedSmall Businesses; include the company name and address, phone number, email address andpoint of contact information. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational purposes only and does notconstitute a solicitation or commit the government to award a contract now or in thefuture. Submitting information for this RFI is voluntary and participants will not becompensated. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of thesolicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and onthe NASA Acquisition Internet Service.It is the potential offerors responsibility tomonitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis.Respondents to this RFI should describe their ability to meet and/or exceed therequirement. Respondents should address the following:1.Companys capability of providing heavy lifting equipment and transportation vehicles. 2.Companys past experience in transporting and lifting similar items during the pastthree years. 3.Estimated timeframe for transportation and lifting after contract award.NASA would prefer that the written submissions not contain confidential business orfinancial information relating to specific companies.This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as acommitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation.
