- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs has a requirement to establish Universal Waste recycling for each of VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) 150 Muir Road, Martinez, CA 94553 as mandated by the Resource Recovery Act and the California Environmental Protection Agency. Universal waste management services shall include: storage, transportation, and recycling of hazardous waste (defined as Universal Waste). Sites included under this contract will be at nine VANCHCS Medical Centers or Outpatient Clinics (OPC) located throughout Northern California: Sacramento Medical Center at Mather, Redding OPC, Chico OPC, McClellan OPC, Martinez OPC, Fairfield OPC, Mare Island OPC, Oakland OPC, and Oakland Mental Health Clinic. Universal waste is hazardous wastes that are more common and pose a lower risk to people and the environment than other hazardous wastes. Federal and State regulations identify universal wastes and provide simple rules for handling, recycling, and disposing of them. The regulations, called the "Universal Waste Rule", are in the California Code of Regulations, title 22, division 4.5, Chapter 23. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE only and the SOLICITATION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. If there are responses of interest to this notice the solicitation will be issued as a 100% set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Concerns or Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) Concerns. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 562211. The size standard for this NAICS code is $12.5 million. The Department of Veterans Affairs anticipates awarding a firm fixed price contract for a base year and four (4) one (1) year options. The approximate solicitation release date is on or about March 11, 2009. The solicitation will be available solely through FedBizOpps. The RFP will be issued under solicitation number VA-261-RP-0105. The solicitation and any related documents for this procurement will be made available to interested parties through electronic media for downloading via the internet at Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) www.fedbizopps.gov.
