Description
On or about 20 March 2009, this office will issue Invitations for Bid for construction of the L611-614 Levee Drainage Structure Replacement (2009), Missouri River and Upper Pony Creek, Pottawattamie and Mills Counties, IA. The solicitation will close on or about 20 April 2009. This solicitation is RESTRICTED TO SMALL BUSINESS PARTICIPATION. Contractors interested in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact Steve Rasmussen, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Ft. Crook Area Office, 402-293-2511. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Obtaining Solicitation Documents below. Project Description: (Approx. quantities) The project involves replacement of eight interior drainage structures on the Pony Creek and the Missouri River levees. The current structures are CMP and will be replaced with RCP ranging diameter from 48 inch to 60 inch and lengths from 140 feet to 200 feet. Each structure includes a gate well, sluice gate, hand operated gate hoist, and a flap gate. Each location will require a temporary ring levee for flood protection during excavation. Each site involves approximately 6000 cu yds of excavation. The project also includes the repair of approximately 200 of bank sloughing on Pony Creek. This requires excavation, placement and compaction of fill material and rip-rap placement. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bonding documents including the power of attorney shall bear an original signature by an officer of the surety. Representations and certifications are required to be updated annually as a minimum to keep information current, accurate and complete. The electronic annual representations and certifications are effective until one year from date of submission or update to ORCA.
