- Description
- Solicitation VA-244-08-RP-0316 Amendment VA001 Contractor question: Please review Section 01-00-00 General Requirements Paragraph 1.25 - Instructions - C: Contractor to provide manufacturers rep for instructions for an indefinite period of time. Paragraph 1.26 - Government Furnished Property, sub paragraph 1.26.G - Contractor to furnish supervision of equipment install by a factory tech employed by the manufacturer for an indefinite period of time. Paragraph 1.27 - Relocated Equipment/Items, sub-paragraph 1.27.E Contractor to employ the services of an installation engineer who is an authorized rep of the manufacturer for an indefinite period of time. We just need to know who to call to get rates. If these services are part of what you bought with the equipment, as implied by one of the VAMC staff yesterday, we just need to know that. Answer from GE: Other than GE (either me or Gary Woods or both) attending construction meetings as needed throughout the construction phase of the project I don't know of any other representation that would be required during construction. Once the room is done we would need the electrician to be available to pull feeder wires to our equipment during the install (with GE oversight of course). Reason being is that our installers are not electricians and this stuff needs to be done by an electrician. VA Comment: They need to tell us when the space is acceptable for their installation. The contractor will have to coordinate having his electrical sub on site during the portion of the install that requires wire pulling. No other coordination should be required and the construction contractor will not have to obtain a contract with GE. VA Specification Clarifications and Corrections: Please note to all including the A/E that Spec Section 23 31 00 2.3 is to be deleted. Duct Lining is not permitted for Infection Control reasons. All insulation, sound attenuation, etc is to be achieved externally. Section 26 51 00 Interior Lighting at 1.4.C.1 Samples: The fixture types of samples to be provided are left blank. They should be types Z, WW and DLD. Section 27 52 23 Nurse Call/Code Blue Systems at 1.1.E lists the Project Manager/RE as the authority for contract changes. It should read Contracting Officer is the only one who can make contract changes. Section 28 31 00 Fire Detection and Alarm at 1.6.I (Guaranty Period Services) states that the contract will be equitably adjusted under certain conditions. This section requires the contractor to verify the system during the 5 year guaranty period if the VA makes changes to the system. This is written for a Major Construction or New Hospital and will be reviewed for removal from the contract.
