Description
Prototype of Analgesic Device for Tourniquet Pain Management in support of the Department of Defense Research On Combat Casualty Care The Combat Casualty Care Research Program of the Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) provides integrated capabilities for far-forward medical care to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with major battlefield wounds and injuries. The USAMRMC is seeking information regarding novel prototype devices to treat tourniquet pain on the battlefield. Interested firms should submit a 1-3 page whitepaper (with additional sheets for diagrams as necessary) describing such devices and the concept of use. Information will be reviewed pursuant to consideration for the development of a request for devices to be tested. As such, any descriptions of clinical use or test and evaluation studies will be of use. For the purposes of this request for information, we anticipate that devices: 1) Will be able to relieve tourniquet pain when applied to injured soldier; 2) Have localized effectnot systemic effects on mental status or hemodynamics; 3) Can be applied easily in a tactical environment with a minimum level of familiarization; 4) Be capable of easy release and re-application; 5) Be light weight; 6) Have long shelf life, low cost and small size. Responses should be emailed to brian.d.miller1@us.army.mil no later than Friday, April 3, 2009 by 1:00pm (Eastern Standard Time). Submission should be emailed as either a pdf or MS office attachment. Submissions should be on company letterhead and include companys name, point of contact, address, phone number, fax number, DUNS Number, CAGE Code.
