- Description
- Suction Devices for use by the Army Combat Medic in Austere Environments The Combat Casualty Care Research Program of the Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) provides integrated capabilities for far-forward medical care to reduce mortality and morbidity associated with major battlefield wounds and injuries. The USAMRMC is seeking information regarding devices which are capable of providing suction for use by combat medics in the austere battlefield environment. Interested firms should submit a 1-3 page whitepaper (with additional sheets for diagrams as necessary) describing such devices and the concept of use. Information will be reviewed pursuant to consideration for the development of a request for devices to be tested. As such, any descriptions of clinical use or test and evaluation studies will be of use. For the purposes of this request for information, we anticipate that devices: 1) Will provide suction for removal of bodily fluids such as blood and vomit similar to the suction available in fixed healthcare facilities 2) Can be used easily in a tactical environment with a minimum level of familiarization; 3) use standard battery power sources; 4) Be of light weight; 5) Have long shelf life, low cost and low cube. Responses should be emailed to brian.d.miller1@us.army.mil no later than Friday, April 3, 2009 by 1:00pm (Eastern Standard Time). Submission should be emailed as either a pdf or MS office attachment. Submissions should be on company letterhead and include companys name, point of contact, address, phone number, fax number, DUNS Number, CAGE Code.
