Description
The government currently intends to reserve this contract action for Small Business. The government is seeking sources for the fabrication and delivery of an ammunition disposal trailer for delivery to MCB Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan. The MCBJ EOD team supports Okinawa ranges operations with UXO removal due to our specific location and non-availability of commercial UXO removal teams. The EOD team detonates a significant amount of small arms ammunition (grade III) yearly from UXO removal. Okinawa's fire conditions ratings often require the removal/delinking of tracers from belt ammunition. The tracer ammunition (code H) is then stored until a significant amount is stockpiled, before being shipped stateside for destruction. Ammunition destruction is an ITS standard for Ammunition Technicians (MOS 2311). The ammunition disposal trailer shall be capable of disposing ammunition up to 50 caliber in amounts of 50-70 pounds at a time. It shall be about six feet high, six feet wide and 14 feet long and shall not exceed 4000 pounds gross vehicle weight. It shall be roadworthy and comply with all department of transportation lighting and safety standards. It shall be fueled by LP gas and provide for safe, contained disposal by having heavy, solid and durable construction. It shall be painted with rust inhibitive primer and high heat paint. It shall have tandem axels and be capable of being towed by a HWMVV using a military pintle hitch. It shall have a mounted spare tire and a mounted tool box stocked with the tools necessary for routine maintenance of the trailer and its components. The trailer will be used to burn grade III and code H ammunition and will not be used to burn high explosives. The award will be approximately $15,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED
