Description
The government currently intends to reserve this contract action for Small Business. The government is seeking sources for the delivery and installation of three (3) Mobile Platform Power Generators, heavy duty version and three (3) Vehicle/Vessel Integrated Primary Electrical Resource (VIPER) units. These devices are similar to the alternator on a motor vehicle except that they produce AC and DC power using the vehicle's engine that can operate standard power tools on the ranges. The location and isolation of BT-11 amplifies the difficulties involved in transporting supplies and equipment used to maintain the targets located throughout the island. Access to the target areas is difficult and maintenance personnel must get from the marsh to the catwalks approximately five feet above water level. Maintenance personnel for reasons of safety and to meet environmental requirements must report fuel and gasoline spills in the marsh. Having power generating equipment perman! ently installed on the amphibious heavy equipment removes the risk of injury from fire and gasoline exposure created with portable generators and eliminates spills into the marsh. The generator shall produce at least 5 KW continuous power and produce high quality AC or DC power, selectable. It shall be completely integrated into the vehicle, under the hood for transparent operation. It shall require no special handling or preparation and no scheduled maintenance. It shall provide on-demand power, continuously as needed over the complete range of vehicle operation whether parked, mobile and engine idle to red-line RPMs. It shall create no noise above the normal engine operation. It shall be about 12 inches in diameter, 5 inches in width and weigh about 60 pounds. It shall operate in all normal temperatures from -40 - 125 degrees F. The award will be approximately $30,000 with an anticipated delivery date of 90 days after contract award. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. It should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the US Government to issue a solicitation. Any information provided to the Government in response to this RFI will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. Written response is requested within 15 days after publication of this notice. NO PHONE CALLS WILL BE ACCEPTED
