- This requirement is a Small Business Set-Aside. This is not asolicitation announcement. This is a sources sought. This sources soughtsynopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed asa commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for informationsolicited. Since this is a sources sought announcement, no evaluation lettersand/or results will be issued to the respondents. The Marine Corps SystemsCommand, MCSC, Program Manager for Ammunition, PM-AMMO, has a requirement toprocure the Cartridge, 12 Gauge Non-Lethal Bean Bag, DODIC AA29. The Cartridge, 12 Gauge Non-Lethal Bean Bag, DODIC AA29, is intended for use incrowd control situations where the use of non-lethal force is desired. Thiscartridge is used with the M500, M590, and the M840 12gage auto-loading and pumpaction shotguns. The cartridge case consists of a brass head containing a primerand propellant charge. The plastic sleeve contains a lead shot-filled fabric ornylon bag weighing between 585-685 grains. The cartridge is assembled with arolled crimp with end wad. Candidate items must be qualified and capable of meeting all performancerequirements without additional research and development. The North AmericanIndustry Classification, NAICS, Code is 332992, Small Arms AmmunitionManufacturing. All contractors who provide goods and or services to the DoD must be registeredin the Central Contractor Register (CCR). Any forthcoming solicitation willrequire online certifications and representations (ORCA), http://orca.bpn.gov.Failure to comply with ORCA registration may make the offerors ineligible foraward. Responses to this sources sought notice should include a briefdescription of the technology. Firms should include literature, brochures, and capabilities summaries directlyaddressing their ability to meet the aforementioned needs. Firms are to statetheir business size, NAICS Code, and identify a corporate point of contact.Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to meet therequirements by submitting a white paper, technical data for the item, pastperformance, and their capability to provide units upon request no later thanclose of business 4:00 PM EST, 09 April 2009 to Commander, Marine Corps SystemsCommand, Attn: Code PMM 2041, 2200 Lester St., Quantico, VA 22134, emailwendy.thompson@usmc.mil and laurel.baker@usmc.mil.
