Description

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a purchase order to Qiagen, 27720 Turnberry Lane, Valencia, CA 91355 The authority for this sole source is FAR Part 6.302-1. The contractor shall provide to CDC a AutoPure LS. Justification for other than full and open competition is because this system is the only system that accommodates a variety of sample types including whole blood, buffy coat, packed cells, cultured cells and mouthwash as well as a variety of sample volumes. Instruments made by other contractors are restricted to smaller sample volumes and thus cannot isolate DNA from 10ml blood samples, which is the preferred volume for specimens used in DNA banking and genetic studies,. Firms that believe they can provide these services/supplies are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notice to the Contract Specialist prior to the response date found in this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action will be based on responses to this notice and are solely within the discretion of the U.S. Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
