Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA, intends to solicit for repair services that support the weather service systems, subsystems, and component parts to Ducomm Technologies, Inc, Carson, California. Ducomm Technologies, Inc. (formerly Jay-El Products Inc.) is one of the original manufacturers of the equipment, and has the facilities, procedures, and expertise to assure the successful and timely repair of the equipment. Lockheed Martin, the original contractor for the Wind Profiler subcontracted to Ducomm Technologies for repair of the equipment. Ducomm Technologies, Inc. will furnish labor and material to place in like-new operating condition and good appearance to meet their specifications and/or tolerances of the equipment listed: Ten (10 ea), SWITCH, BEAM STEERING UNIT, P/N R1-123B001. ASN: J500-2A2S1; S/N: 305510, WORK ORDER NO. (WON): 349151; S/N: 330229, WON: 352592; S/N: 330277, WON: 352590; S/N: 330337, (WON): 350595; S/N: 330367, WON: 345436; S/N: 330400, WON: 352586; S/N: 330401, WON: 353368; S/N: 335870, WON: 352588; S/N: 354139, WON: 352587; S/N: 354156, WON: 352593. Ducomm Technologies has evaluated the equipment under a previous purchase order. The equipment is located at Ducomm Technologies facility for repair. It would not be advantageous for the Government to have Ducomm Technologies put the switch back together and reship to another vendor. The Government knows of no other qualified source and believes that this item is proprietary to Ducomm Technologies. The Government does not have specifications or any adequately detailed information to solicit a bid from another source. These items will be delivered to the National Weather Service (NWS)/National Reconditioning Center (NRC), Kansas City, MO. The company is Ducomm Technologies, Inc., 23301 Wilmington Avenue, Carson, CA 90745. However, all proposals received within 5 calendar days after the date of publication of this notice will be considered by the Government. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time. The Government reserves the right to solicit bids based on the receipt of affirmative responses to this notice or issue an order to Ducomm Technologies, Inc., whichever is determined to be more advantageous to the Government without further notice. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to be considered, firms must furnish detailed information concerning their capability to repair the equipment. Interested firms should submit its name, address, point of contact, telephone number, and a brief statement regarding its capability to repair the specified equipment. Also include the name, telephone number, and point of contact for businesses or other Government agency to which it has previously repaired the item.
