Description
The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Contracting Center at,Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey, is conducting a market survey to identifysources that are knowledgeable and capable of creating a new seal package; including one dynamic with protective bellows and 3-4 static seals for thetravel lock actuator on the Paladin Self Propelled Howitzer system. PartNumber: 57K3244 National Stock Number: 3010-01-373-5945 The current travel lock actuator is a sole source item. This effort will befor improved replacement seals on this system. The actuator is located on theexterior of the vehicle and is subject to corrosion and damage resulting fromenvironmental exposure. Water can leak past cover seals or along the pistonshaft and cause internal damage. The following are the identified items thatmust be delivered by the contractor. 1. Dynamic piston seal 2. Protectivebellows for piston and dynamic seal. 3. At least 1 (up to 4) cover plates withstatic seals. This effort is focusing on improving the travel lock actuatorseals and sealing surfaces for reliability and serviceability in the field.Preliminary drawings of the travel lock actuator have been produced. Sealmaterials should be able to operate between -50 deg F through +150 deg F. It does NOT constitute arequest for proposal (RFP) and is not to be construed as a commitment by theU.S. Government. The U.S Government does not intend to award a contract onthe basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for the information solicited. See numbered note 22.
