- Description
- The Department Of Veterans Affairs, VISN 15 Contracting Office intends to establish an IDIQ contract to purchase, sole-source, from Kinetic Concepts, Inc, Wound VAC and Info VAC Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Systems. These units are the only machines found by this agency which apply controlled, localized negative pressure to help uniformly draw wounds closed, help remove interstitial fluid allowing tissue decompression, help remove infectious materials, provide a closed moist wound healing environment, promote flap and graft survival, and have an adjustable dressing draw down intensity. Characteristics also include the three foams which enable the following: The white foam can be used with exposed bone and fistulas as it is less porous and does not require further contact layers inside the wound bed to prevent shocking. The silver foam can be used with wounds that are more contaminated to prevent further bacterial growth. The black foam can be cut exactly to the shape and size needed. The foams can be cut to the exact depth that is needed to prevent rolling or pinching of wound edges. The black foam can be cut to include openings within the black foam allowing the white foam to be filled in the open areas where there is increase risk for bleeding or over fistula sites. The foam is completely sealed within the wound bed using the drape before the disk is placed making a more closed system Any contractor who wishes to offer their products in response to this sole-source announcement must submit their technical data to support their claim no later than April 2, 2009. A fax or e-mail response will be accepted. Fax number is 913-758-6495. The Contracting Office address is: VA Heartland Network 15, Network Business Office, Contracting Section (10N15-90), 4101 S. 4th Street Trafficway, Leavenworth, KS. 66048-5055. E-mail address is donald.denno@va.gov. Point of contact is Mr. Donald Denno, 913-758-6408.
