- The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement for contractors known as Medical Consultants (MC) to provide consultation services in the contract medical specialty. The Center for Disability (CD), Social Security Administration (SSA) utilizes the services of physicians, psychologists and speech/ language pathologist under contract to review disability claims. This procurement is specifically for specialists in psychiatry and psychology, as well as physician’s proficient in general medicine/ family practice/ internal medicine. This procurement will be for commercial item services prepared in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12 and will be conducted using simplified acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. Consultation services shall consist of the electronic review of medical evidence in disability claims on-site only at 1221 Nevin Avenue, Richmond, CA. No patient contract. Some travel may be required. The following is required of offerors: (1) a valid license to practice medicine/ psychology in the U.S.; (2) completion of an accredited residency in any of the above specialties or a relevant medical specialty; (3) current or recent clinical experience related to any of the specialties listed, and/or experience reviewing/ adjudicating disability cases in any of the specialties listed, and (4) be available for onsite work a minimum of 12 hours per week, at least 2 days per week and for 44 weeks of the calendar year between 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Monday and Friday. All potential contractors will be required to pass the security suitability requirements before beginning performance on an award. Any prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) in order to be eligible for an award. To register in the CCR, the website is www.ccr.gov; applicants must have a DUN and Bradstreet number and Tax Identification Number (TIN). The base period of performance shall be from approximately May 1, 2009, or date of award, whichever is later, through December 31, 2009, with provisions for the inclusion of one option year period. The solicitation is schedule for release on or about April 6, 2009. This requirement is a 100% small business set aside. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 621111 and the size standard is $9.0M. Proposals received from other than small business concerns will be deemed unacceptable and will be given no further consideration. The solicitation (and any amendments) will be available for downloading on the Fed Biz Ops (FBO) web page at www.fbo.gov. All parties interested in submitting an offer should download the solicitation from FBO website. No telephone request for the solicitation will be accepted.
