- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA), Office of Acquisition and Grants (OAG), in conjunction with its customer, the Office of Telecommunications and Systems Operations (OTSO), is currently performing market research to determine the availability of sources to provide nationwide maintenance services for Local Area Networks (LANs), standalone personal computers, and related peripheral equipment located in the ten SSA Regions. These regions consist of approximately 1,500 offices, including SSA Headquarters, located in Baltimore, Maryland; SSA Regional and Field Offices, located through the United States and its territories and protectorates; and State Disability Determination Services Offices. SSA requests information on maintenance service for Ethernet LANs using Microsoft Windows operating systems and IBM compatible Pentium 4 base processors. Currently, there are approximately 80,000 LAN devices located throughout SSA’s LAN environment. The LAN consists of workstations, file servers, tape backup, laser printers and remote and local bridges. The system devices consist of network interface cards, modems, additional memory, network support devices, and other components. Maintenance requirements include: • Remedial on-call maintenance for components, such as network devices, cable plant, and all other LAN devices attached or operating on the networks. Remedial maintenance calls have a return-to-service window of close of business the next business day, or a six-hour return-to-service window for emergency calls; and • Preventive maintenance on laser printers performed on an as needed basis. SSA invites firms currently performing support consistent with these requirements to submit details of their capabilities. Specifically, respondents must submit, at the minimum, the following information: 1) Corporate experience, including socioeconomic and business size status; 2) Brief summary on the strategy you recommend to provide maintenance service on SSA’s nationwide LAN infrastructure; 3) Overall capabilities, with an emphasis on meeting performance levels, customer satisfaction, return-to-service times, equipment manufacturers supported, service areas, and manpower; 4) Details on experience performing requirements of similar size and scope, particularly for Government customers where security procedures and access to sensitive/personally-identifiable information apply. List no more than three past Government contracts/subcontracts similar in size and scope to SSA’s LAN maintenance requirement; and 5) Availability of services through existing Government-Wide Acquisition Contracts (i.e. GSA Federal Supply Schedules, NASA SEWP, etc.). Please include a copy of your GSA/GWAC schedule, if applicable. Interested sources that believe they have the bona fide capability to perform these services should submit a detailed statement of their solution, in writing, to Christopher Mettee, Contract Specialist, Division of Information Technology and Maintenance, 7111 Security Boulevard, First Floor Rear Entrance, Baltimore, MD 21244. SSA will accept responses submitted electronically via email at Christopher.Mettee@ssa.gov. You may fax information to (410) 965-9486. Please reference SSA-RFI-NWLM1 in the email subject line. SSA must receive all responses by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on April 15, 2009.
