Description
NAICS Code: 334519 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 5 in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, intends to award a sole source purchase order to Radiation Solutions, Inc. for the purchase of a RS-501 ConsoleUnit. When two or more of the models RSX-4 and RSX-5 Sodium Iodide Integrated detector spectrometers (currently in use by EPA) are used simultaneously, the RS-501 interface console facilitates and simplifies the interconnection control, setup and monitoring of these large volume 16 L (1024 in3) detectors. The RS-501 allows full and easy access for full control and monitoring and eliminates the limitations of daisy chaining the units. The data collected by this technology will provide EPA's On-Scene-Coordinators (OSCs), Health Physics, Toxicologists and Federal Health Experts with ready access to radiological specific information to facilitate decision making during radiological or nuclear terrorism, nuclear power plant disasters, non-terrorism radoilogical environmental emergency responses, and other CERCLA removal and remedial actions. The EPA recently purchased three RS-500 units providing advanced digital gamma-ray spectrometers for airborne applications and mapping ground-based gamma contamination. The RS-501 console provides for all of the interfacing and communication between multiple detector units and the user's data acquisition as well as a set-up port. The recently purchased RS-500 units require the RS-501 console in order to work effectively and efficiently and is specifically manufactured for the RS-500 units. It has been determined that this acquisition be awarded sole source due to the need for compatibility of the existing units. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334519. The EPA has only one known source for this requirement that is in the government's best interest. If there are any other potential sources, please submit your capability statement via email to the U.S. EPA, c/o Elaine Scott at: scott.elaine@epa.gov no later than 2pm EST, April 3, 2009. NO CALLS PLEASE.
