Description
Synopsis The Bureau of Land Management Farmington Field Office, New Mexico has a requirement for a Deer and Elk Fecal Analysis Project in the Farmington Field Office Area. The project will consist of fecal sample testing from deer and elk in the Crow Mesa SDA and Rosa Mesa SDA from April 2009 to December 2009. The samples will be analyzed to identify the individual plant species comprising 5% or more of the diet and forage classes for all plants, i.e. grasses, forbs, shrubs or trees. The quantity of each species and forage class will also be given as a percentage of the diet. Samples will be analyzed to determine the percent fecal nitrogen and fecal diaminopimelic acid (DAPA). It is desired that a minimum of 50 views (25 views X 2 slides) will be undertaken in conducting the analysis. Evaluation criteria for award consideration, listed in descending order of importance, will include technical capability and approach to meet the government need; price; and past performance. The potential vendor should have a well equipped laboratory capable of processing fecal samples for the purpose of determining fecal nitrogen, DAPA and dietary composition. The laboratory will be staffed by personnel with the technical knowledge sufficient to conduct the required tests and have past experience in conducting these types of test. Offers are due on or about April 15, 2009. For technical information on this project, contact John Hansen (505) 599-6325.
