- Sources Sought Elevator Maintenance The U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado is seeking information from small businesses interested in and capable of performing a long term elevator maintenance contract. Quality of information shall be critical in determining feasibility of small business set-aside. Proposals are currently not requested. Solicitation is anticipated in the late spring of 2009 for a target 1 Oct 09 contract start. Contract duration will be base plus 4 options, Oct 09 - Sep 14. Requirement includes maintenance, repair, replacement and modernization for 82 equipment items of various types, manufacturers and ages. Equipment includes: 36 passenger elevators (19 cable, 14 hydraulic, 3 roped hydraulic), 20 freight elevators (15 hydraulic, 5 cable), 3 cable dumbwaiters, 4 electric handicap lifts, 5 hydraulic freight lifts, and 14 docklevelers (3 mechanical, 11 hydraulic). Services shall meet ASME, NEII and manufacturers' standards and guidelines. Contractor shall arrange for annual, 3-year and 5-year inspections with certified elevator inspectors. An elevator mechanic shall be available 7:30AM-4:30PM, Monday-Friday in order to respond within 30 minutes for duty hour emergencies, which may necessitate a full time mechanic on-site. The government will provide at no cost a 16'x28' storage area and a 10'x28' office. Contractor is subjected to a collective bargaining agreement and provides qualified supervision, mechanics, transportation, equipment, tools, parts, materials and other items or services as needed. A detailed work statement is currently not available. Request interested businesses provide information which validates capability to perform contract requirements. Specifically, information shall include but is not limited to: (1) ability to perform large commercial/government contracts, (2) skill and experience in servicing the various types of equipment maintained by the Academy, (3) access to parts and equipment needed for the same range of equipment, (4) points of contact for current or past customers with contract requirements of similar size and scope, and (5) explanation of how a geographically separated business would meet requirements in Colorado Springs.
