- Description
- The purpose of this modification is to provide Government responses to all questions submitted by interested parties to date. 1. How will the rope be deployed? I could not find any discussion about rope deployment. The rope will be deployed to the rear of the vehicle with the winch in free-spool operation as described in SAE J706 paragraph 3.1. 2. Is the 42,500 lb. pull based on a bare drum or on the top layer of rope? The 42,500 lb. pull is based on a bare drum. 3. Were the specification based on a prototype APU/Winch Configuration previously fabricated and tested by the JPO MRAP? If so, who provided the prototype? Yes, it was based on the users' requirement specified in the MRAP Capabilities Production Document (CPD) and also market research conducted by the MRAP JPO staff. This market research included a test of several COTS APU systems. At this time, information WRT the market research results is not releasable outside of the Government. 4. Para 3.2.2.10 Enclosure states "The APU Subsystem shall be ballistically tolerant to withstand 7.62mm direct fire threats." a. Question: Please define ballistically tolerant. b. What type of 7.62mm ammunition must we protect against and at what angle and at what distance? c. Is protection required for all sides or for specific areas for the APU and Winch? The APU Subsystem shall be capable of withstandingpenetration/perforation on all exposed faces* against small arms threats.More specific information regarding ballistic requirement are classified SECRET in accordance with the MRAP Security Classification Guide. Please verify that your company is cleared to receive classified information up tothe Secret level, the Government will then provide you pertinent information via proper channels. *Any face at any obliquity that could be targeted at a 0 degree elevation.
