Description

This project involves the replacement of a 16 meter footlog across Red Creek on the North Fork Sauk Trial. It also includes dismantling and replacement of 40 meters of puncheon at several locations along the North Fork Sauk Trail. All work is located within the Glacier Peak Wilderness. No us of motorized equipment will be allowed. This project is located on the Darrington Ranger District of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and entirely within the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area. Take I-5 north of Seattle to State Highway 530 and Arlington Exit. Stay on Highway 530 to the town of Darrington. In Darrington Highway 530 turn right to the Mt. Loop Scenic Highway. To reach the North Fork Sauk trail take the Mt. Loop Highway 16.3 miles to FS Rd 49. Follow FS Rd. 49 seven miles to the North Fork Trail Head. The project begins at Red Creek at approximately mile point 3.5. Work is anticipated to begin on August 1st, 2009 and will run through October 31, 2009. The Government’s estimated price is between $25,000 and $100,000.
