Description
The Army Contracting Command (ACC) Joint Munitions & Lethality LifeCycle Management Command on behalf of the Logistics Research and Engineering Directorate, Enterprise & Systems Integration Center is requesting information from industry and commercial vendors about any products that are capable of detecting impact and shock events experienced by containers on a pallet during transportation. The shock events of interest are between 500 and 1000 gs and usually last less than 10ms. The device shall reveal the occurrence of shock events to personnel without the need for additional equipment or specialized training. The device proposed should have an operational life of at least 10 years, should be capable of detecting a single event (required) or multiple events (desired), should be suitable for use on both metal and wooden containers, should be tamper evident (required) or tamper proof (desired), should be able to detect events with a accuracy of +/- 2%, and should cost less than $10 at production quantities. Information should include but not be limited to the following: technical papers and corporate summary of research projects; summaries of Government contracts or federal agencies; applicable Small Business Independent Research (SBIR) reports; proprietary/patented hardware developed and marketed, or Government systems fielded, with technical and performance summaries. Additional technical and scientific information supporting your efforts in these areas may be submitted. No special format is required. Media is restricted to white paper submissions and/or Compact Disk (CD), with CD preferred. All proprietary and restricted information provided in response to this synopsis should be clearly marked as such. Responses shall indicate the size of the business entity; large or small business. Include all pertinent e-mail address(es), mailing address(es) and telephone number(s) in the body of the response. All responses shall be in the English language. This notice is for information and planning purposes only, and does not constitute a formal Request for Proposal (RFP), nor is the Government obligated to issue an RFP. A contractual award may or may not be made as a result of this notice. All information submitted shall be done at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey.Interested firms should submit the above no later than 30 days after release.
