- Description
- This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at https://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division has a requirement to design ten (10) dual band GPS L1 (1575MHz)/Iridium (1612 -1626MHz) antenna elements. The contractor will be required to assemble and test antenna elements and provide test data for the 10 antennas, on a semi-rigid coax with SMA connectors. The contractor shall provide input and appropriate level of application support for applications level testing where appropriate. These antennas are compact, omni-directional dual-band anten! na for communicating with Iridium satellites in the 1612-1626MHz band, and converting the GPS L1 at 1575MHz. For the Iridium band, the antenna should be passive, working with a ground plane of approximately 45mm diameter (with 0dBic peak gain) and require a 14MHz instantaneous bandwidth. Antenna size should be approximately 12mm (dia) x 14mm (width) x 22mm (length). GPS L1 should be greater than 0dbi gain. The antenna should be able to operate over the full industrial temperature range of (-40 C to 85 C) and be able to withstand moderate levels of shock and vibration. The antenna package should have minimal detuning whilst the antenna/ground plane assembly is embedded inside a PVC pipe with an inner diameter of 40-50mm and a wall thickness of 3-8mm. The antenna package should have a SL1200 Connector (AGK-4003). The requirement is being sole sourced to Sarantel Ltd., 2 Ryle Drive, Park Farm South Industrial Estate, Wellingborough, NN8 6BA. Sarantel's GPS-only antenna! is currently used in a similar system design. The design also incorporates Sanantel's board/antenna interface. The combination of dielectric loading, small size and balanced helical antennas is patented by Sarantel and the geohelix antenna is the only solution to stay within the volume constraints of the current system design. The Request For Quote (RFQ) Number is N00178-09-Q-3020. The required delivery is 8-12 weeks after receipt of order. Award is to be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR 13 as a Firm Fixed Price purchase order. The NAICS Code is 334220 and the FSC Code is 5985.
