Description
The synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is a single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access the information posted by the Navy Sea Systems Command. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, Virginia, 22448-5l00, plans to procure on a sole source basis, removal, disposal, and conversion of a Burroughs Electronic Media Shelving System to a Burroughs Mechanical Assist Control System, from Burroughs Corporation, c/o National Office Systems, INC, 3002 N Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49004-3458 (D&B #161301205), which will be delivered to Receiving Officer, 6620 Tisdale Road, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA 22448. Installation to be performe! d at the Integrated Warfare Systems Laboratory (IWSL), Building 1510, Room 107. The current electronics controlling the media shelving has deteriorated beyond safe usefulness and has created a personal hazard. Reutilization of existing proprietary shelving material and components with the installation of the Burroughs Mechanical Assist System will resolve current issues and will reduce costs of having to dispose of and install a new shelving system. These shelving systems store media in support of the Integrated Warfare System Lab (IWSL) Lifetime Support Engineering Agent (LSEA) mission. These shelves allow the IWSL to easily store, catalog, and retrieve media to support testing of all shipboard configurations in the AEGIS fleet. The contractor will provide the following services: Installation Services, Post Installation Work, and Warranty. Installation Services shall include the following: converting the current Electronic Media Shelving system to the Borroughs Mechanical Assist Control System, remove all motors, Gear Boxes and associated hardware under the rack system, inspect all equipment to insure proper working order prior to installation into the system, furnish and install hardware required to complete the installation of the equipment as needed for Room 107. Post Installation Work shall include the following: provide final system testing to be witnessed by an IWSL representative, dispose of all debris associated with the upgrade from the site and ensure that the condition of the site is left in good operating condition, provide a 1 hour training course on the newly installed systems to IWSL operational and technical staff. Warranties shall include the following: provide a 10 year warrant! y on the new mechanical assist system, contingent upon establishment of a preventative maintenance agreement between NSWCDD IWSL and the contractor, provide a 1 year warranty on workmanship, and activate all manufacturers' warranties for this project. NSWCDD IWSL shall provide the Contractor 3 weeks advance notice of the date of the required installation to allow sufficient time to request access to the IWSL facility during normal business hours on an agreed upon set of dates to complete the installation services, provide a dedicated electrical circuit for each system (2 each) to support equipment as listed in the Bill of Materials, proper receptacles shall be provided by NSWCDD for the disposal of all debris, notify the Contractor of the desired height to install the touch pads on the end face panels of each row, and notify the Contractor of the desired color of the end face panels of each row. There will be no written solicitation issued as a result of this notification. Please reference NSWC Request for Quote (RFQ) # N00178-09-Q-2055. Interested parties may submit their quotes/bids to the following: dana.strickland@navy.mil. This solicitation is expected to close on or about 15 April 2009, with award expected on/before 17 April 2009 and delivery to NSWCDD no later than 29 May 2009.
