Description
This notice is issued to obtain interested parties qualified and interested in providing commercial repair services at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Arlington National Cemetery is undertaking a repair of the Tomb of the Unknowns Monument. The monument, made of marble quarried from Yule, Colorado, was installed in 1931 and has undergone three repairs to date, the last being in 1989. The North American Industry Code is 238110. Interested parties must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR), online at https://www.ccr.gov and must also register at the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) website https://orca.bpn.gov/. Requirement: The work includes performing a radar thermography to determine extent of cracks, raking out and pointing of mortar joints by hand of vertical and horizontal surfaces, cleaning out and replacing grout in cracks, mortar patching of spalled surfaces, and a cleaning of the top and four elevations of the Tomb Monument. Work will be conducted during non-tourist hours of 1930-0700. The contractor must be able to provide for all supplies, transportation, and labor requirements to full fill the entire requirement. The performance period is to be determined. Previous experience is imperative due to the nature of the work. There is a requirement for a Conservator; Conservator must meet, at minimum, Secretary of the Interiors Historic Preservation Professional Qualification Standard for Conservator as defined at the following website: http://www.nps.gov/history/local-law/gis/html/quals.html.
