Description

Brand Name Justification The DOT/FHWA has chosen to deploy VoIP technology throughout the agency, in order to advance the FHWA’s intra-regional and inter-regional telecommunications capabilities, as well as efficiently manage the integration of existing and future regional/LAN-based deployments of VoIP within the FHWA enterprise infrastructure. There are other FHWA field offices which have already implemented VoIP to some extent. The earlier implementations were done using Cisco equipment along with the imbedded FHWA Cisco infrastructure. At this time, DOT/FHWA has authorized the Federal Acquisition Service to proceed with the acquisition of the necessary hardware, software, maintenance, and licensing to deploy a Cisco Systems VoIP solution in its Matteson, Illinois field office.
