Description
The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering Center (NSRDEC), Natick, MA, Clothing and Configuration Management Team on behalf of the Program Manager for Clothing and Individual Equipment have identified a need for a business which can manage the supply chain for various types of flame resistant garments and ensure 100% of the Armys fielding requirements are met. The Army will be fielding approximately 840,000 Flame Resistant Garments in various configurations and sizes during the next year. Current inventories, fluctuating demand and the criticality of these items are such that the Army cannot rely solely on current requisitions, contracting actions and supply chains to meet near term fielding requirements. Additionally the long lead time in production of FR garments contributes to the by size shortages per fielding cycle. To combat these shortages the Army is looking to work with a single Supply Chain Manager that will monitor inventory, predict shortfalls and partner with various industrial capabilities (mandatory and small business sources as directed) which will have a quick turn capability to address these shortages. This production should be available in our warehouses in less than 10 days. This quick turn capability is required for the following items; Fire Resistant Army Combat Uniforms, ARMY Combat Shirts, Improved Combat Vehicle Crewmans Coveralls, Aviation Aircrew Combat Uniform, and Fuel Handlers Coveralls, with a quantity of approximately 5000 garments of identified uniform type in any given month. The government would like to hold a meeting with industry leaders that have experience in the supply chain management, lean manufacturing, quick turn capabilities, and have the potential to meet these productions requirements. This meeting will be held on 15May 2009 at the warehousing facility in Haymarket VA. This facility currently manages the fielding of these garments. Attendance is limited to two individual per company and a prior approval of the attendees is needed for access to the location. Interested firms are requested to submit names and any relevant information on their company by COB 11 May. Any relevant company background/experience, and any other information that the company believes demonstrates their value / ability to meet the aforementioned requirements should be included. Respondents must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database and provide a DUNS number. Firms may register for CCR at www.ccr.gov. All information and evaluation results will be controlled and used for governmental purposes only. Responses to this notice are to be sent to U.S Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering Center, Attn: AMSRD-NSR-WP-WC [Mr. Daniel Purcell], 15 Kansas St., Natick, MA 01760-5019. This notice is for information only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. No solicitation document exists for this action. POC for this request is Daniel Purcell (508) 233-6335, FAX (508) 233-5985 or email daniel.j.purcell@us.army.mil
