Description
The 526th ICBMSG is seeking potential sources for a Minuteman III replacement fuze. The Air Force is interested in a single, common fuze for Minuteman III compatible with both MK 12A and MK 21 reentry vehicles and their payloads. There are no new fuze performance requirements. However, the common fuze, when utilized in either reentry vehicle, must provide the combination of fuzing options available with existing MK12A and MK21 fuzes. The Air Force is also interested in mass and volume reductions to accommodate potential future requirements in other reentry vehicle subsystems. The fuze must be integrated into Minuteman III with minimum impacts to the weapon system. The government is considering awarding contracts to two teams for Technology Development through the Preliminary Design Review and down selecting to one contract team for Engineering Development and Production. The government may consider other acquisition strategies if in the Government's best interest. Please send your responses to Jed Noorda at jed.noorda@hill.af.mil or Scott Wessell scott.wessell@hill.af.mil. This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is considered market research for an effort that is anticipated to be awarded in Government Fiscal Year 2012. This SSS is not a Request for Proposal.
