- Scope of Work: Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision required to perform the operations necessary to completely remove and dispose of carpet, asbestos containing floor tile, cove base, and corresponding asbestos containing adhesive as described below and indicated in attached drawings. Scope of the project consists of removing approximately 7,300 SQFT of ACM from 33 offices, 1 classroom, and 1 hallway on three separate floors of Smith Hall. Smith Hall is located on USCG Academy, New London, Connecticut. Period of Performance: Scheduled work will take place between June 8th, 2009 and July 6th, 2009. Work will be completed in phases, allowing blocks of rooms to be completed. Materials and workmanship shall comply with the latest edition of all applicable codes and industry standards with these specifications. Work shall include: (1) set up of full containment in the designated work area; (2) set up of a complete decontamination facility; (3) removal of carpet, floor tile, cove base, and glue; (4) achieve final visual inspection and air quality tests performed by a designated Project Monitor. Owner will provide water and electricity and will ensure the complete evacuation of all movable furniture from each room being abated. The owner will also provide the services of an independent, licensed Industrial Hygienist (Project Monitor). Contractor is responsible for field verification of project and availability of necessary resources prior to quoting. A site visit will be scheduled on May 5, 2009. Contractor will provide a detailed abatement plan to include which rooms will be worked on each day between June 8th and July 6th. During scheduling, June 15th or June 22nd should be used as days where work is unable to be completed. Abatement plan must be approved by owner and Project Monitor prior to commencement of work. Lack of adequacy shall be at the sole discretion of the government and may constitute grounds for disqualification. Contractor shall comply with all EPA, OSHA, Federal, State, and local rules and regulations. Additionally, Contractor will provide copies of the State Notification and Non-hazardous Special Waste and Asbestos (Dump) Manifest. Manifest must be signed by an authorized government employee prior to waste removal from place of performance.
