- The United States Coast Guard is seeking potential sources to fabricate lagging for exhaust system for two (2) CAT3608 engines used as Main Propulsion on a 225’ Buoy Tender. All lagging that is in photos on the 3608 exhaust system is in need of replacement. No drawings are available, but some photos are available. The Government intends to issue a contract for this supply. The purpose of this market survey is to identify the best-qualified businesses who are capable of performing this effort. To further refine source list for efficiency purposes, this market survey request also requests that interested vendors provide capability statement package (MS Word Document). The page limitation does not include the cover letter. Vendors are requested to provide the following information in their capability statements: A.An overview of your company’s management structure. B.A summary of knowledge, skills and abilities to provide/fabricate this supply. C.A list of three separate similar type orders in which the same type of manufacturing has been performed. D.Describe your company’s capabilities in performing this fabrication and the ability to perform a site visit in Astoria, Oregon to take exact measurements and design for fabrication and approval. E.State whether or not your company has a GSA Schedule, and if so provide the contract number with the Schedule. Questions covering this requirement are to be forwarded to Geoffrey.E.Gatewood@uscg.mil. Responses are due seven (7) days after this announcement is posted. This request does not constitute a request for quotation or proposal. The Government does not intend to make an award on the basis of this request or to otherwise pay for the information. Furthermore, it does not restrict the Government as to the ultimate acquisition approach, nor should it be construed as a commitment by the Government. This office will use the information to develop our source list. The work will be performed under the NAICS 332313 Fabricate Metal with particular specifications as follows: Item 1: 45 Degree 20” Lower Elbow, QTY: 2 EA, Item 2: 20” Pipe 52” Long, QTY: 2 EA, Item #: Forward Exhaust Manifold Cover, QTY: 2 EA, Item 4: 60’ x 48’ Flat Pad for Aft Manifold, Item 5: Rear Manifold End Cap. QTY: 2 EA, Item 6: Rear Reducer (turbo charger inlet adapter), QTY: 2 EA MILSPEC All Main Engine and Generator Diesel Exhaust Piping, including mufflers and flexible joints, shall be insulated in accordance with MIL-STD-769J (SH) located at http://www.everyspec.com For all piping, the insulation shall have a total thickness of 4” composed of three inner layers (1” Thick) and an outer pad (1” Thick) The inner layers shall be composed of: Three (3) 1” thick fiberglass felt mats, (item 70), and one (1) 1” Thick fiberglass felt mat (item 71), Cover-Vinyl coated/outer cover (oil resistant cloth, item 72). Where necessary to prevent looseness and retard sagging, the pads may be quilted by hand or machine sewing in localized areas. Item 73 supplied for this purpose. End seams of the pads shall be stapled and sewn using items 73 & 74. Pads shall be held in place by wire drawstrings in the circumferential end seam and lacing clips along the longitudinal seams, items 75, 76, & 77 are provided for this purpose.
