Description
This proposed contract action is for 2 each Vizual Horizon Phacoemulsification Systems and associated attachments and components, for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. The NAICS code of this procurement is 339115 and the size standard is 500 employees. Two Army Hospitals, Walter Reed and Madigan, are providing some of the equipment for the exercise, to include some of the cataract surgery equipment. The equipment that they are providing is the Vizual Horizon Brand. The surgical team that will be using this equipment during the Beyond the Horizons 2009 exercise has been trained and are familiar with this equipment. This requirement is a logical follow-on to the original contract, for additional cataract surgery equipment to supplement the existing equipment that the Army surgeons will be using during the exercise. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all proposals received by the closing date and time will be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any contractors who believe they can provide this equipment and can provide proof of ability to meet the requirements should e-mail or fax their company capabilities information to the attention of Mary Sue Austin by 12:00 NOON EST, 30 April 2009.
