- The US Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, is seeking potential firms that have the capability to provide services for a Design Build Construction Contract for one additional parking deck level to each of the two (2) existing 5-level Parking Garages (North and South) at the Veterans Affairs John D. Dingell Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan. Construction of only one of the additional decks at the North Parking Garage will be included in this contract. New parking deck levels would provide space for about 150 cars with dimensions of approximately 292 feet by 190 feet. Required work will include extension of the existing elevator system to the new deck. Construction and architectural must match existing garages. The estimated dollar value of this contract is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The contract will have 24 twenty-four month duration. The estimated award date of the contract is 30 June 2009. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code is 236220, which has a size standard of $33.5M in average annual receipts. The project requires knowledge of precast concrete and structural steel design for parking garages and elevator design and construction. All existing electrical, fire, security, power systems will extend to additional deck. The solicitation is anticipated to be available on or about 11 May 2009.
