Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Pittsburgh PA, hereby announces its intent to issue a purchase order to Cincinnati Mining Machine Company for: 1) 52 units, Conveyor Chain (PN DA-3502-AU which features a 36-1/8" forged flight arm with urethane coating (to help reduce noise exposure on a continuous miner). This chain runs on a dual 3-1/2" pitch sprocket is 14" between flights, and has a 275,000 Lbs. tensile breaking load. 2) 66 units, Conveyor Chain (PN DA-5502-AU which features a 36-1/8" forged flight arm with urethane coating (to help reduce noise exposure on a continuous miner). This chain runs on a 2-3/4" pitch sprocket is 11" between flights, and has a 215,000 Lbs. tensile breaking load. NIOSH has conducted research to investigate the best design for the applications of urethane to continuous mining machine conveyor chains with respect to noise. In order to complete Mining and Hearing Loss Program strategic goals, a conveyor chain that produces less noise than conventional conveyor chains need to be built. Based on NIOSH specifications, Cincinnati Mining Machine Company, is the only company that has the capability to produce this specialty item, based on NIOSH Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) specifications. This project is supported by justification for other than full and open competition to Cincinnati Mining Machine Company, under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1). Responsible sources that believe they possess the expertise and capabilities identified above are encouraged to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, their written item description/item characteristics and pricing information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. Please forward the item description and pricing information to James Ambrozic, Purchasing Agent, Reference: 00HCCMBD-2009-68816, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Acquisition and Assistance Field Branch (Pittsburgh), PO Box 18070, Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to an award of a federal contract. The website is: www.ccr.gov. The Government will review any/all item descriptions and pricing information submitted and determine if other qualified sources do exist that could provide this requirement. Information received in response will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), negotiations will be conducted with Cincinnati Mining Machine Company 2950 Jonrose Ave, Cincinnati OH 45239 as the only source and a purchase order will be issued without any additional notices being posted.
