Description
Justification Information: TIPS Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D 2010 Software Purchase of Five Additional Network Licenses and Associated Annual Maintenance Subscription Requisition DLT Solutions, Inc.Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D is a TIPS core software package that provides tools for engineering design and review as well as geographic information system (GIS) capabilities. The software is used by both regulatory and AML scientists specializing in geology, soil science, hydrology, civil or mining engineering, or related natural sciences. The five (5) additional network licenses and associated annual maintenance subscription are to be rolled into TIPS existing license pool to provide uninterrupted access to users in support of state and tribal abandoned mine land and regulatory programs under SMCRA.Autodesk software has been part of the TIPS core software for many years. The associated software packages (i.e., Civil 3D, Map 3D, and Raster Design) were selected based on their advanced computer aided design capabilities and wide acceptance by professionals in the mining and mine reclamation industry as well as in state and tribal abandoned mine land and regulatory programs. The Autodesk software also serves as the base engine for Carlson Mining, another of the core software programs that provides computer automated earthwork design capabilities necessary to easily and efficiently achieve Title IV and Title V efforts under SMCRA. The Carlson Mining and Autodesk Raster Design packages run as components of Autodesk Civil 3D and Map 3D; they are not standalone packages. Autodesk has been a leader in computer aided design software for over 25 years. Autodesk first revolutionized the software industry with the AutoCAD product, which introduced drafting on a PC. The widespread popularity of AutoCAD software established Autodesks continued commitment to practical innovation that increases productivity and profitability in the drafting and design arena. AutoCAD paved the way for Autodesk technology leadership in industries such as building, infrastructure, manufacturing, media and entertainment, and wireless data. Today, Autodesk is a fully diversified software company that provides a wide variety of solutions for creating, managing, and sharing electronic (i.e., digital) data. The Autodesk community includes more than six million users; in addition, they have four global strategic partnersMicrosoft, Intel, Hewlett-Packard, and IBMas well as 2,500 third-party developers. For decades, engineering professionals have used AutoCAD software to create and edit precise spatial data for use in a GIS product to produce maps and reports. In the mid 1990s, Autodesk Map software began removing the boundaries between CAD and GIS. Over the past decade, Autodesk Map 3D has evolved into a comprehensive GIS product that still includes the complete, most current version of AutoCAD. The precision editing capabilities of AutoCAD are well known. Autodesk Map 3D adds these capabilities to other GIS data formats and applications. With Autodesk Map 3D, you can compile links to multiple project components into a single composite document, support multiple users querying and editing drawings simultaneously, create and define real-world features and models, connect your GIS layers and CAD drawings to spatial and nonspatial databases, use real-world coordinate systems, and publish data to the Internet.
