Description
The U.S. Department of Energy's Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program is expanding the measurement capabilities at its ARM Climate Research Facilities (ACRF) Aerial Facility (AAF), Mobile Aerosol Observing System (MAOS), Tropical Western Pacific Darwin site (TWP-D), and the ARM Mobile Facility 2 (AMF2). This involves the addition of a cloud condensation nuclei counter (CCNC) to measure the number particles that activate at a specified supersaturation. Battelle, Pacific Northwest Division, Management & Operating Contractor of the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), is requesting information from prospective offers to provide cloud condensation nuclei counters in accordance with the following: • Single column or dual columns that provide 2 supersaturation measurements simultaneously • Designed for continuous operation • Supersaturation range from equal to or less than 0.1% to greater than or equal to 2.0% • Less than or equal to a 30 second supersaturation change • Intake sample flow rate less than or equal to 1000 volume cc/min • Onboard computer for control and data logging • Serial data output for external computer • Multiple bin optical particle counting in a size range of 1-10 m • Sealed for operation on pressurized aircraft • Mountable in a 19 inch wide rack with a vertical height no greater than 35 inches • Less than or equal to a nominal 20A run current on 28 VDC or 5A run current on 120 VAC • Installation completion by 9/30/2010 Interested firms shall also provide information in the following areas as available: 1. A description of current experience, knowledge, and capabilities directly applicable to the performance of the scope identified. 2. Availability and delivery capability (project timelines are critical and will be monitored). 3. Brochures providing descriptions of equipment, maintenance and standard warranty, along with a current published commercial pricelist. This Request for Information (RFI) is part of a market research effort that will best address PNNL's needs. This RFI is issued for information and planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Battelle does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or to otherwise pay for information received in response to this RFI.
