- The California Institute of Technologys (Caltech) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL),operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA), is seeking potential responses to a full and open competition to providescientific workstations, servers, and related hardware and software products.BACKGROUND: The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to determine theinterest and capabilities of potential proposers for the re-competition of this effort.The Laboratory is in the process of seeking responses to this RFI to additionally providethe necessary staff, equipment, supplies and services to provide and deliver scientificworkstations, servers and related hardware and software products as ordered by authorizedJPL representatives through JPL's Oracle iProcurement System.IT PRODUCTS: The contractor shall provide the following IT products, but are not limitedto, UNIX systems; Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES Version 4 (server); Red Hat EnterpriseLinux AS Version 4 (server); Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Advanced Platform Version 5(server); Red Hat Enterprise Linux base server Version 5; Red Hat Cluster Suite; Red HatGlobal File System; Dataram Memory Products and Veritas Software.ATTACHMENTS: Refer to the attached draft Statement of Work and draft Exhibits I throughVIII for the specific requirements.REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP): The anticipated date for release of the RFP is Thursday, May28, 2009.RESPONSE DEADLINE: Please submit your expression of interest and capabilities statementto Mary Helen Ruiz via e-mail: maryhelen.ruiz@jpl.nasa.gov no later than Monday, May 11,2009.POINT OF CONTACT: Please direct any questions regarding this synopsis to Ellissa Gorham,Subcontracts Manager, via email: Ellissa.J.Gorham@jpl.nasa.gov Telephone inquiries willnot be accepted.DISCLAIMER: It is emphasized that this synopsis is for preliminary planning purposes onlyand does not constitute a commitment, implied or otherwise, that JPL will solicit you forsuch procurement in the future.
