- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration, Central Service Area, will be awarding a single source contract to Johnson Controls, Inc., 9850 Legler Road, Lenexa, Kansas. This project is to complete the Johnson Controls Metasys Upgrade of the Building Automation System (BAS) at the Air Route Traffic Control Center, Olathe, Kansas. The work includes but is not limited to the following: 1.Replace all "backplane" controllers with N2 ASC/DS devices or NEXT GEN FEC controllers.2.Flash NCM4510's furnished under previous upgrade project to NAE's.3.Replace workstations not previously replaced in the first upgrade project with contemporary pc's loaded with MS Explorer Web Brower software and running EA platform.4.Install new server for archiving events on EA platform.5.Generate new graphic for EA platforms.6.Upgrade IFC 2020 to IFC 3030.7.Extend an additional network connection from existing hub at NC-6 to second floor of administration wing. Provide a laptop running on EA platform tied to Metasys network. Coordinate location of new office with the COTR. Rationale for the single source: The BAS is critical to maintaining the ZKC ARTCC building environment within operating parameters for critical National Airspace System (NAS) equipment and personnel. A failure within the BAS could cause a failure in required NAS equipment, thus negatively affecting Air Traffic Operations. This procurement will complete the upgrade of the AS to an acceptable level to maintain reliable BAS operations. Since the ZKC BAS is constructed of JCI-proprietary equipment and software, only JCI can upgrade existing system components and software.
