Description
This project consists of removing the existing dewatering screen prototype currently installed on the tailrace of McNary Dam. The dewatering screen prototype consists of the screen itself along with its support structure, water supply and discharge piping systems, drive assemblies, flumes, sensors etc. Removal activities will include only those components located above the tailrace deck, components located below tailrace deck which includes supply water piping will not be included in this task. The overall structures dimensions are (roughly) 95 long X 7 wide X 16 high (not including handrails), both a 34 diameter supply pipe measuring roughly 43 in length and a 36 diameter discharge pipe measuring roughly 17 in length will also be removed. The task also involves removing all concrete grout material used as support pads for the dewatering structure. All support pads shall be removed and bolt holes shall be filled the appropriate concrete mix until a surface that is flush with the existing tailrace slab is obtained. Existing tailrace penetrations (2 penetrations total, one 34 and one 36) related to the dewatering structure shall also be covered with a steel plate such that the tailrace load capacity is matched. Electrical work will consist of disconnecting power and signal wires related to the dewatering structure, and capping these wires at the adjacently located panel (to remain in place). All dewatering screen components except for some motors, pumps, sensors, panels and other control components (all these components will be properly listed on the contract drawings) will become property of the contractor. The contractor will be responsible for their proper disposal.
