Description
The USDA Forest Service is seeking potential contractors that can demonstrate their technical ability to perform services related to determining the impact of acidic atmospheric deposition from anthropogenic sources and the development of critical loads for sulfur and nitrogen deposition. The contractor(s) will be required to document (in writing) their previous experience at performing each of the following Seven tasks: 1.Projects that have utilized the Model of Acidification of Groundwater in Catchments (MAGIC) to quantify the acid anion and base cation conditions in lakes and streams; to determine the historical or future trend in acid anions, base cations, pH, and soil base saturation; and/or estimate critical loads for total sulfur or nitrogen deposition. 2.Projects that have utilized other ecological effects models for sulfur and nitrogen deposition that produces similar results as the MAGIC model listed above. 3.Site specific or regional studies that summarize water chemistry, soils chemistry, and atmospheric deposition data. 4.Development of water or soil chemistry inventory or monitoring programs to evaluate the role acidic deposition is having on forest and aquatic ecosystems. 5.Projects that have reviewed water or soil chemistry inventory or monitoring data and summarized the role acidic deposition is having on forest and aquatic ecosystems. 6.Projects that have evaluated land management practices that may influence base cation availability in soils, streams, and/or lakes. 7.Projects where the contractor, and their company, has worked in an interdisciplinary manor with other contractors or government agencies. In addition to addressing each of the Seven tasks listed above the contractor should submit a listing of relevant reports and peer-reviewed publications which clearly demonstrate previous experience at accomplishing one or more of the tasks listed above.
