Description
DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS (VA) SEEKINGEXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST TO ACQUIRE A SITE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NATIONAL CEMETERY The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is interested in acquiring a site on which the Government may construct a VA national cemetery in the San Juan, Puerto Rico, region. VA will consider either a land purchase or acceptance of a donated site. VA is looking for a parcel on one hundred (100) contiguous acres, or larger. To be considered, the site must be within twenty-five (25) miles of the interchange of Routes 22 and 1 in the City of San Juan. In addition to proximity, the travel time via major highways will be a primary consideration. VA has identified the following municipalities in the region as preferred locations: San Juan, Catao, Toa Baja, Toa Alta, Dorado, Vega Alta, Vega Baja, Morovis, Corozai, Bayamn, Guaynabo, Aguas Buenas, Caguas, Trujillo Alto, Carolina, Loza, Canvanas, and Rio Grande. Other requirements: 1) Site ownership must be free and clear title that does not contain any encumbrances unacceptable to the Government. 2) Full disclosure of any hazardous or toxic wastes or materials on the site must be communicated to the Government in writing. 3) Easy access to the property via major roadways must currently exist or planned for the immediate future. 4) Appropriate utility service and road access must presently exist or must be presently approved or planned by the appropriate jurisdiction(s). VA staff will conduct a market survey of offered properties. Interested offerors (owners, brokers, or their legal representatives) should submit one (1) copy of the information concerning the property, by mail, fax or e-mail no later than 4:00 p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, on June 1, 2009, to the following: Mr. Edward Swift Real Property Service (00CFM3C) Department of Veterans Affairs 810 Vermont Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20420 Telephone: 202-461-8245 Fax: 202-565-4074 E-mail: Edward.swift@va.gov The Government will pay no more than the appraised fair market value for the site. RESPONDENTS ARE ADVISED THAT THE VA ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY TO PURCHASE A SITE BASED UPON REPONSES TO THIS ADVERTISEMENT.
