Description
Project Description: Base bid consists of replacing hangar deck heating system Bldg 144. Option 1 consists of recovery heating. Option 2 consists of windows and door for Boiler Bldg 144A. The exact locations are specified on the drawing. Base bid: The intent of this Design/Build project is to replace the existing Heating System on the deck of hangar 144. This includes but is not limited to: Demolition of the existing steam heating system.Design, provide and install a fully functional Steady State Heating System on the deck of hangar 144.Identification of possible asbestos material on the steam line insulation, windows mastic, boilers and lead paint for penetration to the hangar, windows and mechanical equipment. Option 1: In addition to Steady State Heating System required by the base contract, design and provide a Recovery Heating System for the deck of Hangar 144. Option 2 description: Replace eight (8), 3' X 8' windows at the boiler building 144A andan exterior metal door. The interior wall and ceiling surfaces of Hangar 144 Deck are RF shielded. The RF shield is a steel mesh that is soldered with silver solder. Shield penetrations must be kept to an absolute minimum - KTR should use theprevious holes left when the old heating systems piping is removed, if at all possible. New piping should be secured to the RF shield in like manner as was the old piping before removal. Cover any opening created by thedemolition with the same shield material. Conduct survey to identify hazardous materials (HAZMAT) suspected to exist, such as lead paint, asbestos pipe & boiler insulation, and asbestos mastic on windows. As part of the proposal, submit unit costs for abatement of those materials. A modification to the contract is planned based on the survey results and the unit pricing provided.
