Description

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) plans to procure a brand name Corning Cabling Systems Fiber Patch Cords for the PTONet III network deployment. USPTO has an existing 25-year warranty from Corning Cabling Systems for the fiber cable plant that was installed in the USPTO Alexandria headquarter campus buildings. The warranty includes repairs for failures where any installed fiber does not provide the optical transmission bandwidth as specified by the ANSI/TIA/EIS-568-A Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard. This warrant would only be valid for two years for installations if utilizing the products/services from multiple manufacturers. This announcement is considered a “brand name” justification. This acquisition will be conducted utilizing Part 13 of the FAR, Simplified Acquisition procedures, and the test program authorized in FAR subpart 13.5, and the Patent and Trademark Acquisition Guidelines (PTAG). The acquisition will be conducted utilizing existing Blanket Purchase Agreements for Information Technology products within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
