- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for technical Consulting Services for a three year study on the quantification of natural and anthropogenic impacts on ground-water and lake levels in East Central Florida and to develop empirical models using data mining techniques that include ANN models based on site specific data to be delivered to U.S. Geological Survey, Orlando Florida. Advanced Data Mining International, LLC is the only known source for this requirement. Technical Background: An alternative to applying physics-based, mechanistic, models to riverine/estuarine systems to develop empirical models using data mining techniques, which include ANN models, based on site-specific data. The emerging field of data mining addresses the issue of extracting information from large databases. It is comprised of several technologies that include signal processing, advanced statistics, multi-dimensional visualization, machine learning and Chaos Theory. Data mining can solve complex problems that are unsolvable by any other means. A neutral work model is a flexible mathematical structure capable of describing complex non-linear relationships between the input variables that are typically found in natural systems. I. Historical data analysis 1) Exploratory data analysis via an expanded Microsoft Excel data-viewer application. 2) Cluster analysis to identify relevant groupings of data that exhibit similar behavior. 3) Local ANN models of select short-term and long-term time series.II. Regional data mining model 1) Spatial interpolation of multiple ANN models for short-term time series (likely 1995-2007) to quantify regional ground-water system behavior. 2) Develop a Decision Support system (DSS) of the historical databases, ANN models, model controls, model output, and streaming graphics.III. Comparison with physics-based, ground-water flow models 1) Development and application of three-dimensional response surfaces for comparing physics-based, ground-water flow models with system behavior inferred from historical data. There are two option periods THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively IAW FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The NAICS code is 541620The anticipated award date of the contract is 05/30/09. A vendor must be registered at http://www.ccr.gov to be awarded the contract. All responsible sources may submit a bid or quotation which shall be considered by the agency.
