Description
The intent of this project is to repair runway shoulders in VAFB, CA. This project involves grinding out 2 inches of (CTB) concrete treated base, to make way for 2 inches of asphalt mix Type A. The shoulder width will extend to10 feet wide and 30,000 feet long. Before full production paving can start there will be a test strip paved 250 feet long and test sample will be taken for laboratory testing. Delineators will keep any one from traveling outside of the work area. The shoulder will need to be cleared and grubbed to remove any vegetation that will be generated from the shoulder work area. Through all of the tasks a pick up broom (sweeper) or kick broom will clean the edge of the runway when needed and the path way where the trucks run to clean any possible tracking. After the clearing then the removal of 2 inches of CTB will be taken down to meet the grade needed to establish a minimum 1 percent on a variable to 2 percent. Continue to finish grade shoulders, prep for asphalt pavement. Upon asphalt paving a tack coat will be applied to assure bonding, and then a layer of asphalt 2 inches thick will be applied. Work will include: Removing 2" CTB, Asphalt Construction; Clear and grub; Removing 2" CTB; Tack coat; Apply 2" minimum asphalt. Equip on Site: Skip and drag; 4000 gal Water truck; Motor grader; 2 rollers; Cat Paver; Asphalt grinder; Street Sweeper; 3 company vehicles (pickups), and Ten wheeler dump truck.
