Description
The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), Washington, DC, requires Comprehensive Newborn Screening Services for all newborns born at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) Bethesda, MD. The Comprehensive Newborn Screening Panel shall be comprised of and shall test for the following genetic disorders: Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorders; Organic Acid Disorders; Biotinidase Deficiency; Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia; Congenital Hypothyroidism; Sickle Cell and other Hemoglobinopathies; Amino Acid disorders; Carbamoylphosphate Synthetase Deficiency; Hypermethioninemia; HHH2, Hyperornithinemia with Gyral Atrophy; Maple Syrup Urine Disease; 5-Oxoprolinuria; Transient Neonatal Tyrosinemia; and Malonic Aciduria, as well as Cystic Fibrosis and Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Deficiency. The Comprehensive Newborn Screening Services shall be provided in accordance with the policies and procedures of NNMC Bethesda and in conformance to the standards established by the Joint Co! mmission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The total duration of all required services shall be a base period of one year and four one-year option periods. This is a sole source action to be awarded as a new contract to Perkinelmer Genetics, Inc. Perkinelmer Genetics, Inc. is the only firm who can supply the required services for the acquisition. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
